  • 1 lb ground beef Choose lean ground beef to reduce excess grease.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1.5 cups diced carrots
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 3 cups uncooked bowtie (farfalle) pasta You can substitute with any pasta shape.

Instructions

Cooking Instructions

  • In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and carrots, and sauté for 4–5 minutes until softened.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add ground beef to the pot and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess grease if needed.
  • Stir in tomato paste, then add tomato sauce, beef broth, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then stir in the uncooked bowtie pasta.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 15–18 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and sauce is thickened.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stove or microwave, adding a splash of beef broth if it seems dry. Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or peas for more color and nutrients. Adjust spices to your taste.
