  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Opt for pure vanilla for best flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Balances sweetness and enhances flavors.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the vanilla extract and salt to the creamed mixture and mix until fully combined.
  • Gradually add in all-purpose flour about half a cup at a time, mixing gently until just combined.
  • Fold in the chopped pecans until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Roll small balls of dough (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  • Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass or your fingers.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden while the centers remain soft.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For perfect results, use room-temperature butter and keep an eye on the baking time. These cookies can be garnished with powdered sugar for an elegant touch.
