  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 1 pound sliced steak (or ground beef)
  • 8 oz cheese (provolone or Cheez Whiz) Feel free to use cheddar or mozzarella for variation.
  • 1 cup onions Sliced.
  • 1 cup bell peppers Sliced.
  • 2 cloves garlic Minced.
  • 2 tablespoons butter For sautéing.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sauté onions, bell peppers, and garlic until soft.
  • Add the sliced steak to the skillet and cook until heated through, season with salt and pepper.
  • Slice the French bread in half lengthwise and place it on a baking sheet.
  • Spoon the steak mixture evenly onto the bread halves.
  • Top with cheese and bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from oven, slice, and serve hot.

Notes

This cheesy bread is best served warm. You can cut it into slices for easy sharing. Pair with marinara sauce for dipping or enjoy it with a side salad or fries. If you have leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place in the oven until warmed and cheese melts again.
