Meatloaf Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef Use fresh or thawed beef.
  • 1 cup green bell peppers, chopped
  • 1 cup onions, chopped
  • 1 cup mushrooms, chopped Can be substituted with zucchini if desired.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Fresh breadcrumbs recommended for best texture.
  • 1/2 cup milk Add more if the mixture seems dry.
  • 1 large egg Helps bind the ingredients together.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Cheese Filling

  • 1 cup Provolone cheese, shredded Substitute with Cheez Whiz or cheddar for variation.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, green bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix until well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
  • Make a slit down the center of the meatloaf and fill it with Provolone cheese.

Cooking

  • Bake for 1 hour or until the meatloaf is cooked through.
  • Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes or a fresh salad. Can be customized with various veggies and cheeses.
