Ingredients
  

For the crust

  • 1.5 cups Graham cracker crumbs
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted butter, melted

For the filling

  • 1 cups Canned pumpkin puree Use fresh if possible.
  • 1 cups Sweetened condensed milk
  • 0.5 cups Brown sugar
  • 2 tsp Pumpkin pie spice Adjust to taste.
  • 1 cups Chopped pecans Substitute with walnuts if preferred.
  • 1 cups Chocolate chips (optional) Use according to preference.
  • 1 cups Pecan halves (for topping)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish lightly.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter until it combines into a wet sand-like consistency.
  • Firmly press this mixture into the bottom of your prepared baking dish.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the canned pumpkin puree, sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, and pumpkin pie spice until everything is smooth and creamy.
  • Pour the pumpkin mixture over the prepared crust, spreading it evenly.
  • Sprinkle the chopped pecans and chocolate chips over the top of the pumpkin filling.
  • Arrange the pecan halves on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 to 30 minutes until golden on top and the filling has set slightly.
  • Cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
  • Serve and enjoy. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For perfect results, use room temperature ingredients and chill before serving. These bars pair well with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or a warm beverage.
