Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed Use cold butter for a flakier texture.
  • 1/2 cup raisins Feel free to substitute with other dried fruits.
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the raisins.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times.
  • Roll or pat the dough to about 1-inch thick and cut into desired shapes.

Baking

  • Place the shapes on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm with butter or jam. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to a month.
