Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 slices Rye bread Freshly sliced for the perfect crust or marble rye for color.
  • 1 pound Corned beef Use good quality for best results.
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese Let it hang over edges for melty goodness.
  • 1 cup Sauerkraut Adds tangy flavor to the sandwich.
  • ¼ cup Russian dressing Can substitute with a mixture of mayo and ketchup.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather your ingredients to have everything ready.
  • Preheat your skillet over medium heat.
  • Spread Russian dressing on one side of each slice of rye bread.

Cooking

  • Place a slice of rye bread on the skillet, dressing side up, and add a quarter of the corned beef.
  • Add a slice of Swiss cheese and half a cup of sauerkraut on top.
  • Cap it with another slice of bread, dressing side down, and press gently.
  • Flip the sandwich when the bottom is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  • Cover the skillet for a minute if you want extra ooey-gooey cheese.

Serving

  • Transfer the sandwich to a cutting board and slice in half to reveal the melty interior.

Notes

Don’t rush the grilling; ensure the heat is moderate, and consider pairing with a salad or sweet potato fries. Leftovers can be reheated in a skillet to retain crispiness.
