  • 4 ounces Corned beef, sliced
  • 2 ounces Swiss cheese, sliced Essential for a rich flavor.
  • 2 ounces Sauerkraut, drained
  • 2 tablespoons Russian or Thousand Island dressing Adds a tangy flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Butter For grilling the bread.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients to ensure a smooth cooking process.
  • Preheat your skillet over medium heat.
  • Spread butter generously on one side of each slice of rye bread.
  • Layer the corned beef, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut on the non-buttered side of one slice.
  • Drizzle Russian or Thousand Island dressing over the layered ingredients.
  • Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.

Cooking

  • Place the sandwich in the preheated skillet and grill for 4-5 minutes until golden brown.
  • Flip the sandwich carefully with a spatula and grill the other side for another 4-5 minutes.
  • Check for melted cheese and let it sit for an additional minute if needed.

Serving

  • Remove the sandwich from the skillet and allow it to rest for a minute before slicing in half.

Notes

For a crispier texture, you can mix a little olive oil with the butter before grilling. Serve with crispy fries, coleslaw, or pickles.
