Ingredients
  

For the patties

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 each egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the gravy

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form the mixture into patties.

Cooking

  • Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, then remove them from the skillet and keep warm.
  • In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until they are softened.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms, stir, and cook for 1 minute.
  • Gradually add the beef broth, soy sauce, and ketchup, stirring until the mixture thickens.
  • Return the patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes until they are fully cooked. Serve hot.

Notes

Best served hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
