  • 1 pound sausage Spicy Italian sausage is ideal for added kick.
  • 6 large eggs Fresh eggs bind everything together.
  • 8 ounces cream cheese Adds rich creaminess.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar recommended, other cheeses can be used.
  • 1/2 cup milk Creates a creamy consistency.
  • to taste salt and pepper Enhances flavor.
  • Optional diced onions and peppers Adds flavor and color.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbly.
  • In a large bowl, mix the frozen hashbrowns with the cooked sausage and add onions and peppers if using.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream cheese, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the hashbrown and sausage mixture and stir until well combined.
  • Grease a casserole dish and transfer the mix into it, spreading evenly.
  • Top with the shredded cheese.

Cooking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 55 minutes or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Add fresh herbs like parsley or chives for extra flavor. Do not overbake; a slight jiggle in the middle is desirable.
