Ingredients
  

For the filling

  • 1 package puff pastry Thawed before use
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage Cooked until browned
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour Used to thicken gravy
  • 2 cups milk Gradually added to the filling
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt To taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper To taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder To enhance flavor
  • 1 egg for egg wash To brush on top for a golden finish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until it is browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens. Season it with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

Assembly

  • Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into circles or squares.
  • Place a spoonful of the sausage gravy in the center of each piece of pastry. Fold over and seal the edges.
  • Brush the top with the egg wash.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

Great served warm with fruit, salad, or more gravy. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for 2 months.
