Ingredients
  

For the filling

  • 1 lb sausage Use your favorite type of sausage, whether spicy, mild, or turkey.
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk Add more if gravy thickens too much.
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder

For the pastry

  • 1 package puff pastry (2 sheets) Can use homemade puff pastry.
  • 1 egg egg wash (beaten with 1 tbsp water) For brushing the pastry.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Sprinkle flour over the sausage and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Gradually stir in milk, and cook until thickened. Season with salt, pepper, garlic, and onion powders.
  • Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into rectangles.
  • Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture on one half of each rectangle.
  • Fold over and seal the edges with a fork.
  • Brush with egg wash.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Serving

  • Serve warm, straight from the oven with a fresh salad or fruits.

Notes

These make great finger foods for gatherings or as a breakfast on-the-go. Store cooled pies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the oven.
