Ingredients
  

Filling

  • 6 cups Apples (like Granny Smith), thinly sliced Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for best flavor.
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon Add more if desired for extra spice.
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup Raisins (optional) Optional for added texture.
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice Helps to preserve the apples and adds brightness.

Dough

  • 1 package Phyllo dough Keep covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying out.
  • 1/2 cup Melted butter Use for brushing layers.
  • to taste Powdered sugar (for dusting) Dust before serving for an elegant finish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, toss the thinly sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins (if using), and lemon juice.
  • Unroll the phyllo dough and lay out the first sheet on a clean surface. Brush it generously with melted butter. Layer 3-4 sheets with butter.
  • Place the apple filling along one edge of the dough, leaving space at the edges.
  • Gently roll the dough over the filling, tucking in the ends as you go.
  • Carefully place the rolled strudel seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with more melted butter.

Baking

  • Bake the strudel for about 35-40 minutes until it is golden brown.
  • Let the strudel cool for a few minutes before dusting with powdered sugar.
  • Slice and serve warm, optionally with Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For extra crispiness, sprinkle a little bread crumb mixture on the phyllo dough before adding the apples. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge and reheat in the oven.
