  • 1 teaspoon salt To enhance flavors.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Grease a medium-sized baking dish with butter.
  • Thinly slice the potatoes to about 1/8 inch thick.

Layering

  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased dish. Sprinkle half of the salt, pepper, and minced garlic over the potatoes.
  • Pour half of the heavy cream evenly over the potatoes.
  • Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar and Parmesan on top of the cream-covered potatoes.
  • Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, cream, and cheese.

Baking

  • Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for about 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Serving

  • Let the dish rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Add fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for extra flavor. For a lighter version, consider using half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
