Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 1 cup Brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 large Eggs Add one at a time.
  • 2 1/4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Chocolate chips
  • 1 cup Maraschino cherries, drained and chopped Fresh cherries can be used when in season.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the creamed butter and sugars; mix until just combined.

Combining Ingredients

  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped maraschino cherries until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Scoop rounded balls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks.

Notes

For the best results, use softened butter and avoid overmixing the dough. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.
