Ingredients
  

Wonton Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Make sure the cream cheese is softened for easier mixing.
  • 1/2 cup cooked shrimp, finely chopped Alternatively, use whole small shrimp.
  • 2 pieces green onions, finely chopped For garnish, have extra green onions or chives.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 20 pieces wonton wrappers Do not overfill or they may burst.
  • 1 piece egg, beaten For sealing the wontons.
  • Vegetable oil, for frying Ensure the pan is deep enough for even frying.
  • Chopped chives or green onions, for garnish
  • Sweet chili sauce, for dipping You can also use soy sauce or spicy mayo.

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese, chopped shrimp, green onions, garlic powder, and soy sauce until well combined.
  • Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the filling into the center.
  • Brush the edges with beaten egg, fold the wrapper to seal (into a triangle or pouch shape), and press to close tightly.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a deep skillet or pan to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry the wontons in small batches for 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serving

  • Garnish with chopped chives or green onions and serve hot with sweet chili sauce.

Notes

For storage, let any leftover wontons cool down, then place in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to three days. To reheat, fry again or bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes. You can customize the filling by adding other ingredients like diced bell peppers or hot sauce for a spicy kick.
