Ingredients
  

Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened) Make sure the cream cheese is soft for easy mixing.
  • 1/2 cup cooked shrimp (finely chopped or use whole small shrimp) Cocktail shrimp can be used as well.
  • 2 green onions (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp soy sauce

Wonton Preparation

  • 20 wonton wrappers
  • 1 egg (beaten, for sealing)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying) Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) for frying.
  • Chopped chives or green onions (for garnish)
  • Sweet chili sauce (for dipping)

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, chopped shrimp, green onions, garlic powder, and soy sauce until fully combined.
  • Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Add about 1 teaspoon of filling to the center.
  • Brush the edges with beaten egg. Fold into a triangle or pouch shape and press firmly to seal.

Cooking

  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry the wontons in batches for 2-3 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  • Remove wontons and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serving

  • Garnish with chopped chives or green onions and serve hot with sweet chili sauce.

Notes

If you have any leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in an oven or air fryer to restore crispiness. You can freeze the filling uncooked wontons before frying.
