Ingredients
  

Dumpling Filling

  • 1/2 lb raw shrimp, shelled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup cabbage, finely chopped
  • 2 pieces green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped carrot
  • 1 piece egg
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Dumpling Wrappers

  • Wonton wrappers, small

Instructions
 

Prepare the Filling

  • In a bowl, combine all the filling ingredients: chopped shrimp, cabbage, green onions, broccoli, carrot, egg, cornstarch, vegetable oil, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well to make sure everything is evenly combined.

Prepare the Steamer

  • Boil some water in a steamer pot. Line the steamer basket with lettuce or cabbage leaves to prevent sticking, or lightly oil the basket.

Assemble the Dumplings

  • Take a wonton wrapper and moisten the edge with water. Place about 1 teaspoon of the shrimp mixture in the center of the wrapper. Fold the wrapper in half to create a half-moon shape, pressing the edges firmly to seal it.

Steam the Dumplings

  • Arrange the dumplings in the steamer basket, making sure they do not touch each other to allow even cooking.
  • Steam the dumplings for about 10 minutes, or until the wrappers are translucent and the filling is fully cooked.

Serve

  • Enjoy the dumplings hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For best texture, chop the vegetables finely. If the filling seems too dry, add more soy sauce or a splash of water. Experiment with different vegetables or proteins.
