  • 4 cups Beef broth This creates the base for the cooking liquid.
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder For seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder For seasoning.
  • To taste Salt and pepper Season to preference.
  • Optional Fresh herbs Like rosemary or thyme for garnish.

Preparation

  • Choose a high-quality beef chuck roast with good marbling for optimal flavor.
  • Wash baby potatoes and chop carrots into bite-sized pieces, slice the onion.

Cooking

  • Optional: Sear the beef roast in a skillet over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side until browned.
  • Place the seared roast in the bottom of the slow cooker. Surround it with the baby potatoes, carrots, and sliced onion.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour the broth mixture over the roast and vegetables.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-5 hours.
  • Check for doneness; the roast should be fork-tender.
  • Transfer to a serving platter, garnish with fresh herbs, and drizzle with gravy.

Notes

For perfect results, choose quality meat, don't skip the sear, cut vegetables evenly, and check roast early to avoid overcooking.
