Ingredients
  

For the Chicken

  • 1 lb chicken breast Boneless, skinless
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 TBSP lemon juice
  • 1 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 TBSP olive oil
  • 1 1/2 TBSP minced garlic
  • 4 TBSP butter For cooking
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 8 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 pieces buns
  • to taste mayo

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Season the chicken breast with salt, pepper, paprika, and onion powder.
  • Mix together the soy sauce, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, and minced garlic to create a marinade.
  • Place chicken in the marinade for at least 1 hour.
  • While marinating, slice the mushrooms and onion. Season to taste.
  • Toast the buns until golden.

Cooking

  • Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat, then add mushrooms and onions, cooking until browned. Remove from skillet.
  • Add more butter to the skillet, then sear the marinated chicken until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165 degrees).
  • Top the cooked chicken with mushrooms, onions, and Swiss cheese.
  • Transfer skillet to oven preheated to 400 degrees until cheese is melted.

Serving

  • Serve chicken on toasted buns with mayo and any additional toppings as desired.

Notes

For leftovers, store components separately. Marinating the chicken longer enhances flavor. Variations include using different cheeses or adding vegetables.
