Ingredients
  

Hamburger Steaks

  • 1 lb Ground beef Use high-fat ground beef for moisture and flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup Onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil For frying

Gravy

  • 1 cup Sliced onions
  • 8 oz Sliced mushrooms
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Flour To thicken the gravy
  • 1 tsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped For garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a mixing bowl. Drizzle in Worcestershire sauce and mix gently.
  • Shape the mixture into four oval patties.

Cooking

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add sliced onions and mushrooms. Sauté until onions are translucent and mushrooms are tender, about 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle flour over onions and mushrooms; stir to combine, cooking for one minute.
  • Gradually add beef broth and soy sauce, whisking to smooth any lumps.
  • Simmer the gravy until thickened, seasoning with more salt and pepper to taste.
  • Return the patties to the skillet, spooning the gravy over them and simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve hot directly from the skillet, optionally garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

Tip: For extra flavor, add a pinch of sugar to the gravy or fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary when sautéing the vegetables. Pair with mashed potatoes or corn on the cob for a complete meal.
