  • 1 cup Butter, softened Use real butter for a rich flavor.
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Can substitute with almond extract.
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract, and beat until well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  • Fill a cookie press with the dough or prepare a piping bag with a large star tip.

Baking

  • Press dough shapes onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are light golden brown and centers are soft.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

Let the dough chill if it's too warm to hold its shape. These cookies pair well with festive drinks and can be decorated with food coloring.
