  • 1 pound steak, cut into small pieces Sirloin or ribeye works best for tenderness and flavor.
  • 1 medium onion, diced Adds sweetness and depth when caramelized.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances flavor with its aromatic qualities.
  • to taste salt and pepper Essential for seasoning the filling.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Provides a delightful gooey texture.
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese Adds richness and depth of flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For sautéing the vegetables and steak.
  • to taste fresh herbs (optional, for garnish) Such as parsley or basil for freshness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, then add diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Add minced garlic and let it sauté for a minute.
  • Add the steak pieces, season with salt and pepper, and sauté until browned and cooked to your liking.
  • Slice the French bread in half lengthwise and scoop out some of the insides.
  • Fill each half of the bread with the steak mixture.
  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and provolone cheeses over the filling.

Baking

  • Place the stuffed bread halves on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs after baking.

Serving

  • Slice the stuffed bread into manageable pieces and serve warm.

Notes

Make sure not to overcook the steak for tenderness. For a crunchier texture, broil for the last minute. Always taste the filling before adding it to the bread.
