Ingredients
  

For the cake

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 stick melted butter
  • 1 large egg

For the filling

  • 1 30 oz can strawberry pie filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened) Make sure it's at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, vanilla extract, and sugar until smooth.
  • In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spread the strawberry pie filling evenly on the bottom.
  • Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the strawberry pie filling.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the yellow cake mix with the melted butter and egg until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle the cake mixture evenly over the cream cheese layer.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries as garnish. Store in the refrigerator covered for 3-4 days, or freeze for up to two months. For different flavors, try using cherry, blueberry, or peach pie filling.
