  • 1/2 cup Vinegar Rice vinegar is preferred for a milder flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Sugar Adjust according to your sweetness preference.
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce Use low sodium if preferred.
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch Helps to thicken the sauce.
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil For frying the chicken.
  • Salt and pepper to taste For seasoning.
  • Rice or Chinese noodles for serving Pair with your preferred choice.

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, and cornstarch to create the sauce.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add cubed chicken breast to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes until golden brown on all sides.
  • Stir in the onion, bell peppers, and pineapple chunks; cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken and vegetables, stirring to coat evenly.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer for 5-10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Prepare serving rice or noodles.
  • Serve and enjoy the vibrant Sweet and Sour Chicken.

Notes

For extra crunch, consider adding cashews or water chestnuts. To spice it up, add red pepper flakes or chopped chili peppers. Make sure your pan is hot enough for best browning results.
