  • 1.5 pounds beef round steak A good cut of meat that provides the perfect balance of flavor and tenderness.
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil For browning the steak.
  • 1 onion, sliced Adds depth and sweetness.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Essential for aromatic richness.
  • 3 carrots, sliced Adds nutrition and sweetness.
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce Base of the sauce; use homemade for better flavor if desired.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Critical for enhancing flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  • Tenderize your beef round steak gently using a meat mallet or fork.
  • Season the steak with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  • Brown the steak in the skillet for about 3-4 minutes per side, then set it aside.
  • In the same skillet, sauté the sliced onions and minced garlic until translucent.
  • Add the sliced carrots and cook for a few more minutes, letting the flavors meld together.

Baking

  • Place the browned steak in a baking dish and spread the sautéed veggies over it.
  • Pour the tomato sauce evenly on top.
  • Cover the dish and cook in the oven for 2 to 2.5 hours until the meat is tender.
  • Let it rest briefly before serving to allow the juices to redistribute.

Notes

Make it your own by adding different vegetables. Don’t rush the cooking time for the best results. Leftovers improve in flavor—store in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
