  • 1 inch ginger, minced Adds a zing to the dish.

Marinade

  • 2 tablespoons Szechuan peppercorns Provides unique numbing spice.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Add umami flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar Balances heat from peppercorns.

Cooking Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil For stir-frying.
  • to taste salt and pepper Simple seasoning.

Instructions
 

Marinating the Beef

  • Mix together soy sauce, Szechuan peppercorns, and brown sugar in a bowl.
  • Toss flank steak in the marinade until well coated.
  • Let the beef marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add marinated flank steak and stir-fry until browned, around 3-4 minutes.
  • Remove beef from skillet and set aside to prevent overcooking.
  • In the same skillet, stir-fry onion, garlic, and ginger for about a minute until fragrant.
  • Add sliced bell peppers and cook for another 3-5 minutes.
  • Return the beef to the skillet and mix well with the vegetables.
  • Season with salt and pepper as needed before serving.

Serving

  • Serve Szechuan Beef Stir Fry hot, ideally over rice or quinoa.

Notes

For best results, ensure the pan is hot enough for a good sear. You can adjust heat level by using fewer Szechuan peppercorns and pair with milder sides for kids.
