Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound Flank steak Tender and absorbs flavors well.
  • 2 cups Bell peppers A mix of green and red for color.
  • 1 large Onion Yellow onions preferred.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced for aromatic flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh ginger Grated for warmth and zest.
  • 1 teaspoon Szechuan peppercorns Provides a unique kick.
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar Balances heat from peppercorns.
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce For umami flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil High smoke point oil for cooking.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Slice the flank steak against the grain into thin strips.
  • In a bowl, combine soy sauce and freshly grated ginger. Toss in the flank steak and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Wash and slice your bell peppers and onion.

Cooking

  • In a large pan or wok, heat a couple of tablespoons of vegetable oil over high heat.
  • Add the marinated flank steak and let it cook for about 2-3 minutes without stirring to achieve a nice sear.
  • Add the bell peppers and onions. Stir and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Add minced garlic and more grated ginger. Stir for about a minute.
  • Sprinkle in Szechuan peppercorns and brown sugar, stirring well to coat everything.
  • Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

For perfect results, use fresh garlic and ginger, and avoid overcooking the vegetables to keep a nice crunch.
