Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 can Crescent roll dough This is the star of the recipe, provides flaky texture.
  • 8 slices Ham Traditional choice; feel free to substitute with turkey.
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese Option to use other cheeses like cheddar or provolone.
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard Optional, adds a nice zing.
  • 1 count Egg For egg wash, enhances golden color.
  • To taste Sesame seeds Optional, for a crunchy topping.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
  • On the wide end of each triangle, place a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese.
  • Optionally drizzle some Dijon mustard on top.
  • Roll the dough from the wide end to the point to enclose the filling.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the rolled bites on it, leaving space in between.
  • Beat an egg and brush it over the tops of the bites for an egg wash.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a crunchier exterior, chill the rolled bites for 10 minutes before baking. Adjust the baking temperature 25°F lower if using dark baking sheets to prevent over-browning.
