  • 4 slices Swiss cheese A must-have for a melty delight.
  • 8 ounces Corned beef The star of the show, don’t skimp on quality.
  • 1 cup Sauerkraut Adds tangy crunch.
  • 2 tablespoons Thousand Island dressing Can substitute with homemade dressing.
  • 2 tablespoons Butter For a golden, crispy texture.

Optional Enhancements

  • 2 tablespoons Fresh herbs (dill) Enhances flavor if available.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and lay them out for easy access.
  • Butter one side of each slice of rye bread evenly.

Assembling the Sandwich

  • On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer two slices of Swiss cheese.
  • Add a generous layer of corned beef on top.
  • Spoon sauerkraut over the corned beef.
  • Drizzle Thousand Island dressing on top of the sauerkraut.
  • Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side facing out.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Grill the sandwich for about 4-5 minutes on one side, until golden brown.
  • Flip the sandwich and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes until the cheese is melted.

Serving

  • Remove the sandwich from the skillet, let it cool for a minute, then slice in half.
  • Serve with crispy potato chips or salad, and extra pickles on the side.

Notes

For a crunchy texture, pre-toast the bread slightly before buttering. Cook at lower heat for perfectly melted cheese. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
