  • 1/2 teaspoon Onion powder

Preparation

  • Melt Butter: In a medium-sized saucepan, place the butter over medium heat.
  • Make the Roux: Once the butter is melted and bubbly, whisk in the flour and cook for about a minute.
  • Gradually Add Milk: Pour in the milk while whisking to avoid lumps and ensure a smooth mixture.
  • Cook Until Thickened: Stir occasionally until the mixture thickens to a creamy consistency.
  • Add the Cheese: Reduce the heat and stir in the shredded cheese until melted and smooth.
  • Season: Add cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt to taste.
  • Serve Warm with Chips: Remove from heat and serve warm with tortilla chips.

Notes

For best results, use fresh ingredients and adjust seasonings to personal taste. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat gently on the stove.
