Ingredients

For the Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Seasoned breadcrumbs add extra flavor.
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 large egg Acts as a binder for the meatballs.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Essential for bringing flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Can use fresh herbs if available.
  • 1 jar marinara sauce The heart of this dish.
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes Optional, for added heat.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, egg, minced garlic, and Italian seasoning. Mix everything together using your hands, being careful not to overmix.
  • Shape the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter.
  • Grease the bottom of the crockpot with cooking spray. Place the shaped meatballs in the crockpot, crowding them slightly.
  • Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs, ensuring they are all covered.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.

Serving

  • Serve the meatballs over spaghetti, on a sub roll for a meatball sandwich, or with crusty bread.

Notes

For crispy edges, briefly brown the meatballs in a skillet before adding them to the crockpot. Pair with a fresh salad, garlic bread, or roasted vegetables. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
