Ingredients

For Frying

  • 3 cups oil for frying

Main Ingredients

  • 1 head cauliflower, broken into florets
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat the oil in a deep fryer or a large saucepan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • In a bowl, toss the cauliflower florets with salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the egg and vegetable oil. Add the flour and milk, whisking until you have a smooth batter.

Cooking

  • Drop the cauliflower florets into the batter to coat them well.
  • Gently lower the battered cauliflower into the hot oil and fry until the florets rise and float, about 2 to 4 minutes.
  • Carefully turn the pieces over and fry until they are golden brown, around 2 more minutes.
  • Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried cauliflower to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Notes

Serve hot with dipping sauces like ranch or spicy mayo. To store leftovers, place in an airtight container in the fridge and reheat in the oven for crispiness.
