Ingredients

For the Mashed Potatoes

  • 2 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks Provides creaminess and buttery flavor.
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream or milk For luscious creaminess.
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Key for rich mashed potatoes.
  • 0.25 cup sour cream Optional for extra creaminess.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped For garnish and fresh flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation of Mashed Potatoes

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Add the peeled and chopped Yukon Gold potatoes. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

Mashed Potatoes

  • Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  • Add the heavy cream, 4 tablespoons of butter, and sour cream if using. Mash until smooth and creamy.
  • Season generously with salt and pepper, and taste for perfection.

Cook the Steak Bites

  • While the potatoes are cooking, season the bite-sized steak pieces with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat and add the seasoned steak bites.
  • Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until desired doneness, ensuring not to crowd the pan.
  • Set the steak aside once cooked.

Garlic Butter Sauce

  • Lower the heat and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté for about a minute until fragrant.
  • Return the steak bites to the skillet and coat them in the garlic butter. Cook for another minute.

Serve

  • Spoon the creamy mashed potatoes onto plates and top with garlic butter steak bites.
  • Drizzle any remaining garlic butter from the skillet over the top and garnish with fresh parsley and chives.

Notes

For crispy steak, ensure the skillet is hot before adding the meat. Leave space between pieces for a good sear. Yukon Gold potatoes offer unbeatable creaminess; consider adding roasted garlic for more flavor!
